What Positive Thinking actually is

In our daily life we hear a lot about the term positive thinking that it is the key to successful life, it brings you peace of mind and happiness etc. But most of us don’t know exactly what positive thinking actually is.

When we read the words positive thinking we probably imagine a person who is positive all the time, who is living a life of denial, who is always pretending everything to be going great even when it isn’t. We also imagine this person to be hiding his true feelings and living in a positive illusion without having any consideration of reality. But this is not what positive thinking is all about. It is not the denial of reality, it is not making a fool’s paradise for yourself.

Well, positive thinking is about controlling the way you feel and look at your circumstances and situations instead of letting them to determine how you feel. If you are like most of the people then your thoughts and feelings are easily affected by the situations you face. You behave and think according to your underlying beliefs. Beliefs are actually thoughts about particular situations which are, through repetition, consciously or subconsciously, settled deeply in your mind. Your beliefs decide what is reality for you irrespective of what it actually is.

Whenever you face some negative situations, you start having negative feelings and your beliefs trigger negative emotions further. Positive thinking is about changing your negative beliefs into positive ones. When you have positive beliefs your thoughts change and you will observe a whole new world unfolding in front of you. You will start looking for positive aspects in every situations instead of negative ones only. You start having confidence in your abilities and likelihood of your success at anything increases. Positive thinking brings you peace of mind and happiness. You no longer fear negativity.

Its little hard to change your settled mental beliefs into positive ones. But change can be brought this I can assure you. It takes time and effort to do so. But the outcome is worth of the effort. You will become a positive thinker.
